Jiufen Tea Houses, Taiwan - April 2012
Jiufen is a small pittoresque village built in the 17th century by the side of a mountain in the Ruifang District of Taiwan. It was thriving during the Gold Rush era, but has declined afterwards. Only in the early 90’s the village started to attract tourists again. Today, tourism is its main livelihood. There are many old tea houses there, and the village was used as a model for the anime “Spirited Away”.
